Living Dolls and Dead Men 01
I’d like you to imagine Trez with the voice of a young man with thick, (and I mean THICK) Cajun accent.
Living dolls and Dead Men 02
Since what Trez? SINCE WHAT? (answer in a few chapters :3 )
Living Dolls and Dead Men 03
Mojo’s innocence is refreshing… and a big worrying.
Living Dolls and Dead Men 04
And fortunately, Eshu is here to save the day !
Living Dolls and Dead Men 05
Magic : FAIL.
Living Dolls and Dead Men 06
Yup, silver hurt werewolves. It’s fortunate they are living around a gold mine, isn’t?
Living Dolls and Dead Men 07
Oh?
Look like not everyone is blindly obeying the Witcher…
Living Dolls and Dead Men 08
Look, Trez is a scaredy-cat and just went up a predator five time his size. He is allowed to have a crisis.
He is lucky Pup is just a curious, playful girl and not as high-strung as Ulf.
Living Dolls and Dead Men 09
I admit, Mama Brigit is one of my favorite and I wanted her to appear in her full glory at least once in the comics.
She is a ferocious mama bear who hate knowing kids are in danger and, as usual with the women in this comics, Eshu can’t say no to her.
Living Dolls and Dead Men 10
Return of Big Brother ! I love this scarecrow!
Living Dolls and Dead Men 11
Hey, for Eshu’s defense, he is made of WOOD. It’s kind of a nightmare for him.
Living Dolls and Dead Men 12
Yes, he did.
Living Dolls and Dead Men 13
Here comes a new character !
Jacquemart is directly inspired by the automaton ringing bell in some French churches, the Jacquemart.
There will be a one-shot comics about Jacquemart origins. I just need to decide when to put it in.
Living Dolls and Dead Men 14
Take mate in any meaning you want on that one.
Living Dolls and Dead Men 15
I’m puzzled how I, a sarcastic and pessimist person, managed to create such a little ray of light optimistic character….
Living Dolls and Dead Men 16
Angie is over 200 years, but she is still as impulsive as the first minute Charles made her…
Living Dolls and Dead Men 17
Oh, yeah, Ulf can barely read, and only because Guilemma taught him the basis. He really don’t care about books and knowledge.
Living Dolls And Dead Men 18
Not quick enough, Pif…
Living Dolls And Dead Men 19
Do Ulf and Pif know each others names? No.
Does that stop them to try killing each others regularly? Of course no.
That’s why Ulf broke Pif’s shovel by the way, he is tired of getting hit in the face with it.
Living Dolls And Dead Men 20
Safe may be… a stretch. Not in immediate danger… too.
Living Dolls And Dead Men 21
Gui is used to take care of Ulf’s « children ». At least, this one seems willing to wear clothes.
Living Dolls And Dead Men 22
Who taught her how to lie while still telling the truth?!
Living Dolls And Dead Men 23
Gui may be a push over with kids.
Especially one who look like a deceased friend.
Living Dolls And Dead Men 24
Every one, meet (again) Nancy, head of the family of healers of the Pit, mother of Athanase, and another also, person Ulf like to tick off on a regular basis.
Yeah, she is a polydactyles too, she transmit this to all her children and grand-children.
Living Dolls And Dead Men 25
Ulf has such a gift with words when talking to ladies…
Living Dolls And Dead Men 26
Pup absolutely LOVE children. She would play with them hours longs.
The Pit’s parents, thought, are terrorized with her accidentally biting one of their kids.
Ulf know and use this for his benefits.
Living Dolls And Dead Men 27
The mystery thickens ! Or not.
Living Dolls And Dead Men 28
Don’t worry, Lea is fine, just sticky with werewolf droll. She is going to have a good bath and a few purification rituals.
Living Dolls and Dead Men 29
Reminder that Mojo is only a baby.
Living Dolls and Dead Men 30
Sometimes, Eshu can be a poet.
Living Dolls and Dead Men 31
Mojo, don’t touch the dead.
Living Dolls And Dead Men 32
Mojo, what did I said about touching the dead?!
Living Dolls And Dead Men 33
Years later, I kinda regret a bit my design choice for Jack. Not because of the feminine body, but more about the automaton design.
(yes, he is a he, mainly because he decided he was.)
Living Dolls And Dead Men 34
And this is the other reason why Sad is nicknamed the little whisper of ghost.
Living Dolls And Dead Men 35
Jack’s voice is broken because his jaw got damaged during a fight. He now has no control of the volume and his enunciation.
Living Dolls And Dead Men 36
Trez is… well. A scaredy-cat. And very protective of Sad…
Living Dolls And Dead Men 37
I don’t know, Eshu, maybe put a leash on Mojo?!
Living Dolls And Dead Men 38
Wood VS metal, no wonder Eshu took such a flight…
I had to redo this page countless times because I wasn’t happy with it, but in the end, I’m still not satisfied…
Living Dolls And Dead Men 39
I’m sorry.
Living Dolls And Dead Men 40
Oh yeah, you did messed up…
Living Dolls And Dead Men 41
If you wonder how several tons of metal and terracotta manage to get this close unnoticed.
It’s magic.
Living Dolls And Dead Men 42
As I said earlier… yeah. They were mates.
Living Dolls And Dead Men 43
Survival instinct? What is a survival instinct? Mojo don’t know.
Living Dolls And Dead Men 44
Mojo is learning about the concept of death.
Mojo doesn’t like that.
Living Dolls And Dead Men 45
If Eshu could, he would start drinking. Or he would have palpitations.
Living Dolls And Dead Men 46
I planned this scene years before I start drawing it. Four, at least and since the first concept (which also served as a test for the inking step) it barely changed…

Living Dolls And Dead Men 47
I’m really, REALLY sorry. I swear, for a while, I even tried to save them, but the story wouldn’t work with two overpowered legendary dolls in the cast.
Living Dolls And Dead Men 48
I may have been a bit too thorough in the « let’s break the cuties » department.
Living Dolls And Dead Men 49
Eshu may be grumpy and rude, but in the bottom of his heart, he is a dad.
(But you have to search toward the very bottom, well under the bark)
Living Dolls And Dead Men 50
At least, Jack can finally introduce Golem to his father…
In another temporal line, Eshu managed to convince Jack to listen to him. Both Jack and Golem didn’t liked the idea of the Witcher brutalizing a little girl and stormed the Pit, rescuing Sunday before adopting all the Dead Tree’s dolls, Lady Mandy included while they were at it and Golem can finally be the lovable baby sitter they always wanted to be and be putty between the hands of the ‘younger’ dolls.
(Jack had to be the strict parent)

Living Dolls And Dead Men 51
They are never bored at the Pit! (it would do such marvel on their blood pressure)
Living Dolls And Dead Men 52
Who think Sunday is going to obey?
Living Dolls and Dead men 53
I really wonder who she took from this habit to fill her pocket with things she doesn’t own.
Living Dolls And Dead Men 54
So, let’s say she is not the one Mojo took the survival instinct from.
He may get more the ABSENCE of survival instinct.
Living Dolls And Dead Men 55
I made quite a few mistakes in this comics, but this character design? IS. THE. WORSE.
(rapidity wise, of course, I love his design)
Living Dolls And Dead Men 56
Mojo’s bad habit of touching the dead he shouldn’t touch? Sunday’s has well.
