Doc Patch may seem grumpy and with lousy bedside manner, but they are very wise and knowledgeable about dolls reparation.

Yes, Doc is patched everywhere. Their left arm is self-grafted, as is the stitching on their face and they are still missing a leg, because they haven’t find a good replacement yet.

They had a very bad encounter with one of the Witcher’s undead hound when they went after Doc’s maker. They were found soon after by Lady Mandy who took them in and they have been sewing and repairing the dolls collection ever since.

Around twelve to fifteen years ago, a one armed traumatized teddy bear was brought to them and after repairing him, Doc found themselves in the position of a parent, having to raise and educate a curiously childlike plushie, able to live, think and change on their own.

Now, Teddy is « adult » and is helping his parent with repairing dolls, tinkering with anything that fall between his paws and is the « brute » force of the doll.

The wooden arm help a lot with that.

Ah. Right, I forgot Eshu was doing a magnificent first impression in this page. (also, his design was still evolving at the time)

So, on the big panel, the couple on the left are Baron Samedi and his wife, Maman Brigit, the tallest on the middle are Gran Bwa, loa of the trees and Lady Mandy, the two water loas are La Sirène (on the left, she was also the one pulling the boats on the first panel) and her husband Agwé, both protectors of the sea.

Yes, she is THAT old. and the man with her is the first gravedigger and her dad, Charles.

Strawberry is very huggable. Fun fact, she was originally a little doll a friend and I made for another friend. Yes, with a straitjacket.

Eshu’s only weak point wear a white poncho and puppy dog eyes.

And this is the last character of Mojo’s little team: Trez, the bad luck kitty!
So. Why Trez? Cause it sound like Treize, the number 13 in french and I was felling smart about that one.

And this is the Pit, the Witcher’s village, built around the ancient gold mine he use as a headquarter.
Here, both living and dead are his slaves and you better obey or you will end as the dead…

Oh right! Here come the werewolves, the Witcher’s muscles. Be careful: they are naked, turn furry in a blink of an eye and their pack leader is an asshole.

Case in point, here is Ulf, the werewolves’ leader.

He is a mercenary hired by the Witcher to keep guard and hunt fugitives and he decided to stay in the Bayou and turn an handful of people into werewolves.

Next to him is Whisper, who like Sad, can’t talk out-loud, mainly because Ulf, the sadist he is, bite him across his throat, crushing his larynx and vocal chord.

And this is Puppy, or Pup, a young woman who became insane after Ulf’s bite and now act as a wolf, even in her human form.

Whis is the one taking care of her, especially giving her baths and medicines.

There is also three others wolves, Swallow, Bear and Cloud, but they won’t appear in this chapter.

You now, years after, I question my choice of making the werewolves look like a demented Muppet when they start to transform.

Guilemma is the only one in the Bayou able to keep Ulf in check. Most of the time anyway. And sometimes with a rolled up newspaper.

He may have a thing for redhead with a temper.

Ulf absolutely don’t trust magic. Especially the Bayou’s magic, with the animated dog toys, the dead rising out of their grave and all the loa thing.

Years ago, while I was doing the first chapter during the Nanomango challenge, readers were often telling me Sunday was a poor innocent little girl.
Then they got to the last panel of this chapter and… yeah…
Poor innocent little girl, my left cheek. Remember, she raid her own parent’s grave, made a voodoo doll out of their shrouds and hairs and know perfectly what it do to use your own blood on an unresting.
The Witcher is very right about them being surprised.
